January 2017 |
Hammy New Year Everyone!
No items were claimed in December.
Our first IOTM for 2017 is a
broadcast sheet for a 1970 Challenger T/A, the VIN is JH23J0B311164
- This car is one of the scarcer colors on a T/A, EB7 -
Dark Blue Metallic. EB7 is the second scarcest paint color
known of the 1,495 T/As recorded so far.
This sheet also has a printer
error, a skip made some of the data print too far to the
right.
As always, proof of legal ownership
& proof the car still exists will be required to claim
this item.
There is also a brand new page
on Facebook called The 1970 AAR Cuda & Challenger T/A
Facts & History Page. You can find it at The
1970 AAR Cuda & Challenger T/A Facts & History Page
if you would like to join into the discussions.

February 2017 |
Two more items were claimed
in January!
With our second IOTM for 2017,
I would like to mention some details about Y09 cars. They
are commonly referred to as 'export' cars, but technically
it is more accurate to say they are cars 'ordered from overseas'.
What is the difference?
Well, some Y09 cars were actually
exported while a fair number of them were not. Chrysler
had a Military Sales Program for active duty personnel stationed
overseas who wanted to order a new car. So, if a serviceman
stationed in Germany or Vietnam (as two examples) ordered
a new car though this program, it would have been shipped
to a dealership of his choice for pick up on his return
to the states.
This is one reason that Y09
cars exist with N95 - Evaporative Emissions Control which
was required for sale of new cars in California. If ordered
from a Pacific duty station & the serviceman was returning
via a base in San Francisco or San Diego & he wanted to
pick up his new car close by, N95 would have been required.
If you have a 1970 Y09 car &
would like to know if it was ordered by a US serviceman
from overseas, check your broadcast sheet Y codes for Y09
Y11 & Y14. Y11 indicates 'Domestic Publications' which would
have included an invoice from the factory to the destination
dealership as well as a US dealer (domestic) on the window
sticker. Y14 indicates that a deposit was placed at time
of order. Here is an example of the Y09 Y11 Y14 combination
on a broadcast sheet;
So for our current item of the
month, we have a Y09 Y11 Y14 car ordered from overseas via
the Military Sales Program for a 1970 Barracuda Gran Coupe
with a 318, the VIN is BP23G0B234498 - Thanks for sending
it in Earl!
As always, proof of legal ownership
& proof the car still exists will be required to claim
this item.

March 2017 |
No items were claimed in February.
For our March Item of the Month,
we have a broadcast sheet for a Lime Light 1970 Barracuda
Gran Coupe with the 383-2-barrel engine.
Ed B. pulled all the seats out
of a Lemon Twist Gran Coupe in a salvage yard years ago,
& he let me search them for sheets today. This was the only
sheet found, but it is always fun to look!
The VIN is BP23L0B103717 - Thanks
Ed!
As always, proof of legal ownership
& proof the car still exists will be required to claim
this item.

April 2017 |
No items were claimed in March.
For our April Item Of The Month,
we have a broadcast sheet & other history for a 1970
Challenger T/A in Panther Pink.
By 1983 this car had been repainted
orange & was in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The VIN is JH23J0B287897 - This
sheet was handed over in person at Carlisle, thanks Rick!
As always, proof of legal ownership
& proof the car still exists will be required to claim
this item.
If anyone has any record at all
of a 1970 Valiant 4-door in FM3 I would love to hear from
you!
The next FM3 Reunion will be
at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals next July, Nick Taylor
& Ed Buczeskie are working on the details. If you would
like to attend and / or display your original FM3 car there
you can find more information at
Carlisle Chrysler Nationals

May 2017 |
No items were claimed in April,
but with help from our grass roots contacts the owner of
a Challenger T/A was put in contact with the person that
had his engine! They were able to work out a deal, so the
engine is now back where with the car it came from. :-)
For our May Item Of The Month,
we have a broadcast sheet for a 1970 Challenger R/T convertible
with the 440-6 engine. This sheet was found in the bucket
seat of another car as so often happens. When it was first
listed here in the 'found' section years ago, 10 different
people tried to claim it in the first two weeks it was listed!
I told them all the same thing, proof of legal ownership
in your name is required to claim it. Oddly enough, none
of them ever got back to me, I wonder why? ;-)
The VIN is JS27V0B339536 &
it has what many would consider some very desirable options.
Hopefully the real owner of the car will come forward if
the car still exists.
As always, proof of legal ownership
& proof the car still exists will be required to claim
this item.

June 2017 |
No items were claimed in May,
but with continued help from more of our grass roots contacts
the owner of an AAR Cuda was put in contact with the person
that had her engine! It has been a good year for engine
& transmission match ups so far.
So to continue on the AAR theme,
our June Item Of The Month is a broadcast sheet for a 1970
AAR Cuda. This sheet was found in the bucket seat of another
car as so often happens.
The VIN is BS23J0B297301
This sheet was handed over in
person at the Carlisle show in 2015, thanks D.J.!
As always, proof of legal ownership
& proof the car still exists will be required to claim
this item.

July 2017 |
No items were claimed in June,
but thanks to one or our Registry members, approximately
600 more items will be added to the FOUND section after
I take the time to sort these all out!
Mitch sent in an invoice book
from Risko Chrysler Plymouth in Connecticut, this book includes
over 800 invoices for new & used cars they sold between
October of 1968 & February of 1970.
Al least one car so far has three
invoices, it was bought new, traded in later & then sold
again!
We are featuring two items of
the month this time, Blair traded in his 1967 Hemi GTX on
a new 1970 Duster with a 225 & manual three speed, so these
cars are linked. The GTX was sold as a used car about 5
months after it was traded in. I love A-body 3-speed stick
cars, so this was cool to see! The VINs are RS23J77158577
& VL29C0B130883
As always, proof of legal ownership
& proof the car still exists will be required to claim either
of these items, thanks for sending them in Mitch!
I'll do my best to get the rest
of the VINs from this book listed in the found section as
soon as possible.
If anyone coming to the Carlisle
show has records that they would like to donate to the cause
in person from one to many, please email me so we can meet
at the show.

August 2017 |
Another item
was claimed last month! On Friday while at the Carlisle
show I was checking out two Panther Pink T/As parked side
by side. One of the the owners had been put in touch with
the person that found a broadcast sheet for his car back
in 2015. As I looked at the fender tag on the other pink
T/A, I recognized the VIN & knew that I had some records
for it here. So I pulled the file that night & gave
what I had to Mike the next day. Mike did not get a broadcast
sheet with the car when he bought it, but the prior owner
had sent in a copy to the original Challenger T/A Registry
that was started by Jeffery Coe.
So Bob now has a photocopy of
his original sheet as well as the registration form for
the car from when the prior owner had it. Hopefully the
original sheet surfaces someday & makes its way back
to the car also!
This was the 413th time that
car records have been claimed since I started doing this
& the very first one ever claimed in person. Hopefully
there will be many more!
A big thank you to Jeffery Coe
for keeping the Registry alive as long as he could &
for turning his records over to me years ago.
Thanks also to Bob Kovaleski
for the photo.

Thanks guys!
As always, proof of legal ownership
& proof the car still exists will be required to claim

October 2017 |
We had another item claimed
in September!
Our IOTM for October is a broadcast
sheet for a 1970 AAR Cuda, the VIN is BS23J0B305164.
The car it matches was reported
in Ohio years ago but the owner of the car has not registered
with the 1970 Hamtramck Registry, so I have no way to contact
him.
This broadcast sheet was found
inside a bucket seat back of another AAR Cuda, thanks for
sending it in Russel!
As always, proof of legal ownership
& proof the car still exists will be required to claim
this item.

November 2017 |
We had another item claimed
in October!
Our IOTM for November is a broadcast
sheet for a 1970 Challenger R/T with a 440, the VIN is JS23U0B351925.
This sheet was found in another
1970 R/T, the VINs are over 4000 apart but the actual builds
were started just six cars apart.
Thanks for sending this sheet
in Steve!
As always, proof of legal ownership

December 2017 |
We had two more items claimed
last month!
Our IOTM for December is a broadcast
sheet for a 1970 Challenger R/T with a 426 Hemi. The VIN
is JS23R0B312517.
This sheet was in a collection
of 86 broadcast sheets bought via eBay years ago as part
of an estate sale. The nephew found the sheets in a binder
in the trunk of one of his uncle's cars.
This man knew to check inside
both bucket seat backs for extra sheets. He found several
sheets to cars other than his. It would have been very cool
to meet him & hear his stories!
Three of the 86 sheets purchased
via that auction have previously been claimed. :-)
As always, proof of legal ownership
& proof the car still exists will be required to claim
this item.
